Tremont
The town of Tremont is located on the western side of Mount Desert Island. More rural in nature, Tremont is a mix of year-round residents and summer visitors attracted by the “Quietside” of Mount Desert Island.
Villages within the Town of Tremont:
Bernard, an active fishing community on the western shores of Bass Harbor, offers congenial year-round or seasonal living and the unique pleasure of residing in an authentic New England coastal village.
Bass Harbor is a pleasant fishing village located at the southern tip of Mount Desert Island. An active community with firehouse, prominent harbor, hiking trails, restaurants, and the daily ferry to Swans Island, make this traditional New England village an attractive place in which to reside. The summer brings a relatively small number of seasonal residents and tourists, all eager to enjoy the beautiful ocean vistas, proximity to Acadia National Park, and an unspoiled natural environment.
West Tremont is a small village in the town of Tremont. The essence of rural seacoast life, it is remote, yet close to portions of Acadia National Park, popular dining, entertainment areas, and an active marina.
Seal Cove is located on the western side of Mount Desert Island. Adjacent to Acadia National Park, its tranquil setting has easy access to hiking trails, freshwater ponds, and the spectacular rocky Maine coastline. Although rural in nature, Seal Cove is close to excellent restaurants, the summer stock theatre, and cultural outlets.
