Mia Thompson & Lili Pew
About the Team
Mia Thompson and Lili Pew joined forces as a professional real estate team in 2007, and have since forged a solid business relationship, successfully representing both buyers and sellers. As a team with over 35 years experience between them, they have consistently been top producers in the Mount Desert Island area and have served a myriad of worldwide clientele. In 2015 Mia and Lili closed over $22 million in sales, leading all other agents and teams in the area by nearly $10 million.
Both brokers grew up in the same area of Pennsylvania, attended The Agnes Irwin School in Rosemont, PA and spent their summers here in Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island. Mia and Lili share family legacies in Northeast Harbor and Mount Desert Island with both sets of grandparents, the Hartes and the Pews, who established summer homes here in the early 1900s. Years of summering on MDI has fostered a deep sense of respect and gratitude for what gifts the Island shares with its residents. The depth of their local knowledge, combined with extensive real estate experience and success, is a direct and proven benefit to both buyers and sellers.
About Mia - Broker/Owner
Mia joined The Knowles Company in 1989 and purchased the company in 1994 with two broker/partners. With over 25 years of experience in the real estate business, she has built and maintained a strong client base and has developed a keen sense of the market and a clear vision of how to facilitate a successful transaction in the most professional and thorough manner. Originally from Berwyn, PA, Mia attended Boston University and completed her BA in Economics at the University of Maine. She moved to Mount Desert Island full-time in 1986.
Mia’s passions outside of work include the raising of her two sons, one of which is currently in college. She is a consumate sailor – and highly experienced racer – and also enjoys hiking, tennis, and skiing – downhill, cross-country, and skate. With Acadia National Park as her back yard and excellent sailing waters all around, she finds Mount Desert Island the perfect location in which to live and work.
About Lili - Associate Broker
Lili joined The Knowles Company in January of 2007, as a team broker/associate broker with Mia. She grew up in Bryn Mawr, PA and graduated from Harvard College in 1984 with a BS in Psychology. She followed-up a successful corporate career with the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado and The Narragansett Group in New York by moving to Maine full-time in 2001. Now, with over 10 years of experience in real estate, Lili brings strong business expertise, dedicated professionalism, and great enthusiasm for our local area to bear in all her realty transactions.
Lili's passions outside of real estate include elite-level cycling, racing events such as the Mount Washington Bicycle Hill Climb, as well as grand tours through the high peaks of Europe and the US. She is an avid sailor in the A-boat class and competes in local races with her father, Andy Pew. Volunteering in Acadia on Ski & Bike Patrol, Trail Crew, Acadia Centennial Steering Committee, as well as leading hikes for Friends of Acadia are just some of Lili's commitment to give back to our precious Acadia National Park. Lili is also leading economic development and broadband issues in the towns of Mount Desert and Ellsworth as part of her continuing effort to make a difference for the future of our communities.
Mia and Lili are both board members and dedicated volunteers for a variety of local non-profit organizations. Mia is a coach for the MDI High School Sailing Team, vice president of the board for Acadia Community Theatre, and president of the Acadia Winter Trails Association – a volunteer group grooming MDI’s carriage trails for cross-country and skate skiing. Previously, Mia chaired the Mount Desert Elementary School Board and Friends of Acadia Family Fun day. Lili currently serves on the board of Friends of Acadia and was board chair from 2007-2011. In addition, she serves on the board of College of the Atlantic, and on the Secretary of the Interior’s Steering Committee America’s Voice for Conservation, Recreation and Preservation, as well as the Ellsworth Economic Development Corporation and Summer Residence Association Board (SRA). Lili has also been a board member of Down East YMCA, Hospice Regatta of Maine, and committee member of the Downeast Bicycle Club of Bar Harbor.
