Torie Hallock

Associate Broker

Torie, a Maine native, holds a degree in Human Ecology from Bar Harbor’s College of the Atlantic, which was founded by her uncle Jim Gower. Since 1984 Torie has actively and successfully performed hundreds of brokerage transactions.

Torie’s skills in real estate are augmented by her love for the history of our island — especially its architectural history, with a focus on Shingle-style homes. Her specialized knowledge enabled several notable Mount Desert Island sales: August Moon, Brooke Astor’s Tea House, Skylands, Edsel Ford’s estate, which was sold to Martha Stewart, and most recently Ox Ledge, originally part of Skylands and also sold to Ms. Stewart. Torie appreciates the subtle balance between the aesthetics of a home and its surrounding land, favoring native landscapes and capitalizing on her knowledge of prominent architects and landscape designers. She has had properties featured in Architectural DigestWall Street Journal, and Martha Stewart Living magazine.

Torie is a board member of the Somesville Library, is involved with the Hancock County Master Gardener Volunteers, and growing food for local communities. In her spare time she indulges her deep appreciation for our beloved Acadia National Park, its carriage roads, flora and fauna, ponds and lakes, and Torie continues to work for preservation.
