About the Area

Seal Harbor is a charming seaside village steeped in history and home to some of the most interesting and beautiful examples of “cottage” architecture on Mount Desert Island. With its well-protected, quiet harbor, white sand beach and gently sloping village green, Seal Harbor is a favorite destination for families and seafarers alike. The village has a steady year-round population that swells considerably during the summer “season” with the arrival of well-established summer residents from Philadelphia, New York, and beyond who have summered in the hills above the village for many generations. Abutting Acadia National Park, Seal Harbor allows easy access to hiking, biking, horseback riding, and skiing for the outdoor enthusiast as well as is home to the famous Jordan Pond House.
