Although this property is part of a duplex with its attached companion, Southside, the house was specifically designed so decks on both sides are private with extra sound barriers between the two sides for added privacy. Walk the pathway through the field to enjoy beach combing along the sand beach or paddling kayaks you've rented or brought from home. With no surf due to protection from outer islands, the calm tidal beach is also Ideal for picnics or a cold swim, if you dare! If the evening turns cool, relax inside in front of the wood stove and take in the views from this casual yet well-outfitted getaway located only one-half mile from the shops and restaurants of Southwest Harbor or even closer is Beal's Lobster Pound and the free Island Explorer shuttle running through the village as it travels from Bass Harbor to Bar Harbor with a variety of stops or transfer points in between.

FIRST FLOOR: Fully equipped Kitchen with everything you need to make lobster stew and all the fix-in's. Casually furnished Living Room and Dining Area with glass-door wood stove and access to the sunny deck. Half Bathroom.

SECOND FLOOR: Two Bedrooms, one with a King bed and one with Twin beds, each have water views. Shared, renovated Full Bath with combined tub and shower.

GARDEN LEVEL: The finished lower level with access outside offers two Bedrooms with water views, one with a Queen bed and the other with Twin beds, sharing a Bathroom with shower only, no tub.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Spacious shore facing deck with furnishings and water views over the natural field that leads to a shared beach.

NOTE: As indicated in a photo above, Clarkside is on the right side of the duplex with space for only two cars in the parking area. The beach is shared with Southside and one other dwelling situated behind the duplex. Laundry in separate building is shared with 2 other units.

About this area:

Mt. Desert Island's second largest village, Southwest Harbor, features a charming Main Street with an appealing assortment of shops and restaurants. The neighboring village of Manset, which is along the southern shore of the harbor, tends to be rural in nature but features a number of excellent restaurants and boatyards, including Hinckley Yacht Yard and Morris Yachts, both of which boast an international reputation. If Bar Harbor is the 'gateway' to Acadia, Southwest Harbor is the gateway to Acadia's westside trails and attractions, including Seawall, Ship's Harbor, and Echo Lake, all between five and eight minutes from the village center.
