Property Description:

Inside you'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a glass-door wood stove for cozy Maine nights and a kitchen that is fully stocked for entertaining. This property is a duplex and specifically designed so decks on both sides are private with extra sound barriers between the two sides for added privacy. Outside you'll delight in the spectacular scenery literally at your door with a view of Somes Sound and Greening Island. Take the pretty path down to your own private sandy beach. Sheltered by islands, there is no surf, making it ideal for youngsters. Retreat back to comfortable interiors if the evening gets cool or down to the shops and restaurants of Southwest Harbor located only one-half mile away. Even closer is Beal's Lobster Pound and the free Island Explorer shuttle running through the village as it travels from Bass Harbor to Bar Harbor with a variety of stops or transfer points in between.

GARDEN LEVEL: The finished lower level with access outside offers two Bedrooms with water views, one with a Queen bed and the other with Twin beds, sharing a Bathroom with shower only, no tub.

FIRST FLOOR: Fully equipped Kitchen. Open and casually furnished Dining and Living area with wood stove and access to a sunny deck facing away from the other side of the duplex. Half Bathroom.
SECOND FLOOR: One Bedroom with a King bed made from a set of twins put together and a second Bedroom with Twins separated. Both bedrooms have ocean views. Shared, renovated Full Bathroom with combined tub and shower.
GARDEN LEVEL: The finished lower level with access outside offers a Bedroom with Queen bed and a small common area with sofa, each with water views. Bathroom with shower only, no tub.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Spacious decks with furnishings and water views over the natural field that leads to a shared beach.

DECKS: Each unit offers its own deck with furnishings and water views.

NOTE: As indicated in a photo above, Southside is on the left and Clarkside is on the right side of the duplex with space for only two cars in each parking area (four total). The beach is shared by both sides and one other dwelling situated behind the duplex.

About this area:

Mt. Desert Island's second largest village, Southwest Harbor, features a charming Main Street with an appealing assortment of shops and restaurants. The neighboring village of Manset, which is along the southern shore of the harbor, tends to be rural in nature but features a number of excellent restaurants and boatyards, including Hinckley Yacht Yard and Morris Yachts, both of which boast an international reputation. If Bar Harbor is the 'gateway' to Acadia, Southwest Harbor is the gateway to Acadia's westside trails and attractions, including Seawall, Ship's Harbor, and Echo Lake, all between five and eight minutes from the village center.
