With a rather remote setting in the rural Seal Point area of Lamoine, this stylish post and beam home offers plenty of privacy about 14 miles and 20 minutes by car from the top of Mt. Desert Island. Stroll a short trail through the trees to beach comb the rocky tidal pools, launch a kayak or go for a summer swim. At low tide, you might enjoy walking another path to scenic Seal Point. Private, peaceful and lovely, you may never wish to leave, but surely you will as the scenic drive along Rte 1 will take you to Winter Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula area of Acadia and via Rte 3 you'll reach Mt. Desert Island in about 20 minutes to explore the Island's charming villages and the many activities available.

FIRST FLOOR: Front Foyer with French doors on opposing walls leads to an open floor plan with professional Kitchen, island seating and adjacent Dining Area for up to 8 people. The Living Area offers two distinct conversation sites, one facing the shore and the second more intimate with benches and built-in seating set around a Maine granite fireplace -- the perfect place for a glass of wine, engaging conversation or a cup of tea and a good book. A Half Bath, a Kitchen Pantry and large Mud Room with side entry and laundry facilities complete this floor.

SECOND FLOOR: Ascend the stairs with built-in bookcases holding found treasures and board games to find two Bedrooms, each with a Double bed (not Queen or King) and built-in, cushioned bench with storage underneath at each end of the upper hallway. Between these two primary bedrooms sits a small TV Room with private balcony that serves as a third bedroom with its Queen futon bed and ship's ladder to extra futon mattresses on its loft floor. Two Full Baths, each with combined tub and shower complete this second floor area.

BONUS ROOM: Accessed via stairs from the Mud Room, the second floor Bonus Room serves as a fourth bedroom with another Queen futon sofa bed, TV, comfy chairs and extra space for quiet play. You might find this area best suited for ‘tweens, teens, and young adults.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Lovely covered porch with Adirondack chairs enjoys an eastward water view. Stone patio with small fire pit. Second floor balcony accessed from the second floor, central TV / Futon Bedroom. Garage for bike or boat storage. Barring unforeseen loss or circumstances, 4 or more kayaks are made available for tenant use, including a tandem.

NOTE: Satellite wireless Internet via HughesNet. Great for checking email and internet, but not efficient for video data or movie streaming.

Known as the 'Gateway to Acadia,' Trenton and Lamoine enjoy mainland proximity to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park, with access to the expansive Union River Bay and Mt. Desert Narrows. Home to several local lobster pounds and close to Ellsworth dining, many homes in this area enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Desert's peaks, and swimming is generally warmer in the bay waters. Lamoine's public sandy beach, Trenton Community Trails, Wild Acadia Fun Park, and the Stanwood Bird Sanctuary are just a few of its attractions!

Amazing Family Vacation

We stayed here with four teenage kids and three adults and it was perfect. Plenty of room for everyone. A nice secluded location but a quick drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Enjoyed just sitting down by the water and watching all the activity. Everyone had a great time!

Great House! Great Vacaton!

We just finished our stay at Seal Point Cottage and wow! We were impressed from the moment we walked in the door. The house is better than it looks in the pictures and the location is great! The kids loved kayaking and climbing on the rocks and mud during low tide. I would 100% recommend this house to anyone thinking about it.

Amazing house - impeccably planned, beautiful and relaxing. Pictures don't do it justice. Would definitely stay here again and again! This was probably the nicest home we ever rented.

The house is so nicely appointed and decorated. We loved looking at the hand colored photographs and the other nice details of this Arts and Crafts style post and beam home. The fireplace nook was perfect for reading at the end of the day. And each bedroom having its own bathroom was a real plus when you are traveling with another couple.

The house was better than even the description. The Timber framing was amazing. And everything in the house was immaculate. The view from the kitchen, living room, and bedroom windows over the bay was beautiful. And seeing the sunrise every morning from my window started each day in the right way. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as did the kids.

We have been coming to this area of Maine for over 30 years. This has been by far the best place we have ever stayed. Everything you could need is there from kayaks to games to a stocked pantry to candles to exercise weights! Stunning location on the gorgeous Skillings River.
