About this area:
Bar Harbor's village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park's Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as 'Bar Harbor' are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes' drive to the village center.
We loved Seaglass Cottage. It was on a cute street within walking distance to everything we needed including the grocery store. The house was exactly as described in the photos and one of the most well equipped homes of any of the vacation homes we have stayed. I'm giving it 4 stars because at the very least the beds need mattress toppers, the living room furniture was not comfortable, and we would have loved a smart TV for the teens who wanted Netflix access on our one rainy/cold day. Otherwise, everything was great!
From The Knowles Company: Thanks for your suggestions regarding mattress toppers and a smart TV. Sorry the living room furniture wasn't to your preference. We have passed along your recommendations to the homeowners!
It was cozy and felt like home as soon as we walked in. Our daughter enjoyed staying in the extra room in the converted garage. It gave her privacy and a space to call her own. The cottage is located on a quiet side street within walking distance of the restaurants and shops in downtown Bar Harbor. Would love to stay there again!
Had a wonderful week at sea glass cottage. Lovely spacious house, well equipped and comfortable. We hiked Acadia every day. Quiet and beautiful. Drank in the sunrise every morning with my dog down at Bar Island beach. Would definitely stay here again.
Perfect! Everything about this house was perfect. The size, the perfect number of windows to keep it bright, the absolute cleanliness, the walking distance to town, close to trails in any direction, great shower, beautiful separate bedroom, great kitchen, fenced yard for dog. Cannot wait to come back some day.
