About this area:
Northeast Harbor has the advantage of being quite close to Acadia National Park's Stanley Brook entrance, not to mention the appeal of the grand, historic summer cottage estates, some of which date to the turn of the century. Northeast Harbor offers high end shopping plus some dining opportunities and boasts an active library, community center, public tennis courts and golf course, and a premier marina.
It was basically perfect. Great hosts, great cottage and great location.

Nice quiet setting
The place was very nice. It is very challenging to find the first day especially at night time. It seems as though you are driving on a hiking trail. You actually will cross one of the hiking trails in Acadia when approaching the driveway. We had a very lovely time. Everything was as expected.
From The Knowles Company: So glad you enjoyed your stay! Sorry you had a difficult time finding the house! It's true that its driveway entrance isn't marked well, but that is due to the fact that Acadia National Park, which the drive crosses as you noted, understandably prohibits any conspicuous signage.
