Sea smoke is not a particularly common occurrence around Mount Desert Island (MDI), Maine, but when it does appear it usually inspires the locals to brace against the cold in order to get some photos.

Beautiful, bright blue winter skies, light fluffy clouds – ah, winter in Maine. As we all know, however, the skies will darken and the clouds will let loose inches of the white stuff, or worse – freezing rain. Temperatures will drop and the roads will get messy.
